This is a well written book perfectly suitable for a grade 2-3 student. The story is clearly designed from personal experience, which seems to let the words flow smoothly and sincerely. In general, the story is about two giant mastiffs that befriend and care for a neighboring hound dog. It is a heartwarming tale of friendship, honor, faithfulness, liberty and justice, and maybe some of those funny things that dogs do that humanize them. Great book that helps children know the importance of caring for our animal friends. My kids both loved the book and the actual photos of the dogs at the end. This is a great story with a great message and I hope the author comes out with another story soon!

Love this book. It gently teaches young children compassion for our furry friends. I think that this would be a good book to give children when they're getting their first pet. This book is the first in a series of pet friendly stories. It would be a wonderful way to start children to learn about the ethical treatment of animals.
You need to run right out and buy this special book. When I read it my eyes filled with tears, and then joy for the eventual outcome. It is written from the heart by a most special author with very special pups, Liberty and Justice, who are featured. I cannot wait to see the next book which I think will feature their rescue-brother Perry. Kids and adults will cherish this book...
